Submissions

Thresholds is currently accepting submissions for its inaugural issue. This year’s theme is “Entanglements,” and we are seeking scholarship concerning global connection, movement, extraction, and transformation across scales and borders. We are especially interested in work that moves beyond the historiographical centers the field has long taken for granted, and approaches historical crises through novel conceptual frameworks.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

  • The materialities of land and environmental transformations,
  • Transborder connections, migration, and diasporic formations,
  • Historical articulations of political, economic, and social rupture,
  • Imperial structures, colonial extractions, and their enduring afterlives,
  • Transnational labor and commodity flows.

All submissions must be formatted in accordance with the Chicago Manual of Style, 18th Edition, and should range from 3,000 to 5,000 words. We are accepting submissions until February, 2027.
