Student Life

Students in the MA/MSc program are encouraged to engage with campus communities both at Columbia and the London School of Economics and to take advantage of the extracurricular opportunities in New York and London. This page includes useful resources to help students make the most of their time outside of the classroom.

Columbia Student Life

To help students take advantage of New York’s vast cultural opportunities, Columbia has launched the CU Arts Initiative. Through this initiative, students receive free admission to many museums, in addition to free and discounted tickets to theatre, concerts, lectures, restaurants and other opportunities throughout New York City.

Columbia has hundreds of student organizations on campus. A comprehensive list can be found on the Columbia University website.

LSE Student Life

Most of the major museums and art galleries in London are free. LSE also sponsors numerous cultural and artistic events on campus- from weekly free music concerts in the Shaw Library, to various film, art and photographic student societies, and artist-in-residence projects. A schedule of Arts and music events on campus, can be found on the LSE website.

The LSE Students’ Union has over 150 societies covering a wide range of activities from the serious and prestigious, to the light-hearted and fun. For a list of societies at LSE, and further information on how to get involved, visit the LSE Student Union website.
