Research Interest

Zee Fischer received his BA in History and his LLB in Law from the Universiteit van Amsterdam. In his undergraduate dissertation for history, he researched the impact of Rundfunk im Amerikanischen Sektor (RIAS) on the tripartial psychological powerstructure of the SED in the German Democratic Republic (GDR). In his undergraduate dissertation for Law, he researched whether the Brezhnev-doctrine should be regarded as international common law, despite the principle of non-intervention.

He is mostly interested in Cold War matters, and aims to approach this from an interdisciplinary perspective. In the past, he has worked extensively on the division of Germany and its political, economic and social implications.

At Columbia University and The London School of Economics and Political Sciences he looks forward to broadening its perspectives on Cold War matters, both in a geographical and theoretical way.
