Dissertation

Vahid is a PhD student in History at the University of California, Berkeley where he is pursuing his interests in political theory, international political economy, and philosophy of history through a critical reading of modern Iranian history within a global context. His current research is concerned with the question of sovereignty in the context of changing international monetary regimes during the twentieth century.

He received his MA/MSc in International History from Columbia and LSE where he wrote his award-winning master’s thesis on the relationship between history and politics. Contextualizing the competing readings of the history of the Constitutional Revolution and their chief proponents within the political landscape of post-1979 Iran, his thesis shed light on the politics of re-reading and re-constructing the historical past.
