Sofia researches how the oil and gas industry influences the global policy action on climate change at the think tank InfluenceMap. She tracks the fossil fuel industry’s various tactics of climate obstruction in North America and Europe.
At Columbia-LSE, she focused on the history of global empires, primarily the British Empire. Her dissertation explored the systematic processes through which the 19th-century ‘curatorial state’ in colonial India brought different pasts of the subcontinent under a single unified narrative to locate and justify the imperial present.
Sofia also holds a master's in development studies from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. She enjoys 19th-century literature and hiking in the countryside.
