I graduated last summer from Newcastle University in the north of the UK, where I studied History. I focused on German Nationalism and memory before and after the Second World War and my dissertation explored the impact of fairy tales - and particularly a story by late Imperial German-era author Hermann Stehr on Nazi ideology. I am also interested in American history, particularly the Civil War and Reconstruction eras. I have also looked at violence and its association with race and class tensions, as well as the rise of the state in this time. Between my second and my final years, I wrote some online introductory pieces on the modernisation of medicine and warfare through the Crimean War, the American Civil War and the First World War for Adam Matthew Digital.
Beyond my studies, I play sports such as rugby and (real) football; I also enjoy acting, dancing and theatre. In addition, I play the bass guitar and piano. I was a nanny to two small boys, so I am now an expert in Power Rangers and building Lego.
