Courses

This course traces, from the colonial era to the present, the development of policies toward immigrants from Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. Key topics include assimilation and integration; the daily lives of im/migrants and multi-status families; guestworkers and labor; xenophobia and pro-immigrant rights movements; twenty-first century debates over immigration; and the impact of economics and foreign policy upon border and citizenship legislation.
