Hallie graduated from Vassar College with a BA in Art History and received a graduate certificate in Land Arts of the American West from Texas Tech University.
She has worked as a curator, researcher, and editor, with a focus on the intersections of art, cosmology, technology, spirituality, and the political imagination. Her most notable projects include serving as co-curator of Cosmos Cinema, the 14th Shanghai Biennale (November 2023-March 2024), and Séance: Technology of the Spirit, the 13th Seoul Mediacity Biennale (August-November 2025). Cosmos Cinema considered how the terms of our relationship to the cosmos condition all life on earth, while Séance: Technology of the Spirit investigated the role that spiritual experience played in the development of modern and contemporary art.
At Columbia and LSE, she intends to work on themes that began to coalesce while working on these large-scale exhibitions. In particular, she is interested in histories of arcane spiritual practices and new religions, legacies of Japan's imperialist empire, and artistic production as a form of cultural history.
