Ashley Rahimi Syed graduated with a BFA from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in 2015. A first-generation US American of Iranian and Pakistani descent, Ashley uses visual media to dissect the harmonies and hostilities between these multiple identifications. Her thesis piece, a web game entitled Make Me Your Arabian Fantasy, used humour to critique the way Middle-Eastern women are often depicted in western media. Ashley is also a co-founder of Young, Colored & Angry, an online magazine that exclusively showcases the artwork and academia of marginalised peoples. Her work has been featured in New York Magazine, i-D on VICE, DISMagazine, and Teen Vogue.
