Angelo received his BA in History from UNC-Chapel Hill, and also studied at the National University of Singapore and La Universidad de La Habana (Cuba). After college, he moved to Ecuador where he taught English, and then to rural Costa Rica, where he served as a Peace Corps volunteer. Angelo moved to New York in 2012, and worked as a research assistant for the American Social History Project on the Latino experience in the U.S. (1880-1920). His interests include British imperialism in Southeast Asia, Afro-Latino cultures, and the Cuban revolution.
