Jean-Louis Stassen grew up in the Netherlands and Belgium. He graduated from New York University with a BA in Economics (2008) and from the University of San Francisco with a BA in History (2010), during which he spent his freshman year in Florence, Italy. At Columbia and LSE, his research interests focused on Global Conflict Studies, with his dissertation revolving around the role of the Dutch political position prior and during intervention in Bosnia in the 1990s. After graduating, Jean-Louis worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands at the embassy in Berlin and the European Parliament. He works as a policy officer for Economy and Innovation at the Province of Limburg (NL), helping drive the Einstein Telescope project and bringing together government, universities, and businesses. His focus is on advancing this major science project into wider benefits through innovation, collaboration, and new opportunities.
