Daniel Wertz

Dissertation

As a student at Columbia and LSE, Daniel's research interests focused on American colonialism in the Philippines and the development of modern US foreign policy. He was awarded the Richard Hofstadter Prize in 2010 for his dissertation linking the origins of international narcotics control to American anti-opium policies in the colonial Philippines in the early twentieth century. Daniel currently works as a Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State. Before joining State, he worked in Washington, D.C. at the National Committee on North Korea, a non-government organization. A native of upstate New York, Daniel received his Bachelor's Degree in History from Wesleyan University.
