Prior to the dual degree program, Yuxiang earned his BA in English from Nanjing University in China. He also attended courses in international relations, economics, and finance as part of his undergraduate studies. While at Columbia, Yuxiang determined his dissertation topic: a study of the legal history of Hong Kong from 1945 to 1978, primarily about the development of the police force. Thanks to the fellowships from Columbia's History Department and Weatherhead East Asian Institute, Yuxiang was able to conduct primary research in California and Hong Kong before heading to London for the second year of the program. In his spare time, Yuxiang is interested in a variety of subjects, including photography, frequent flyer programs, and community supported agriculture. Yuxiang is currently working for China Energy Investment Corporation.
