In 2019, I graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where I double-majored in History and Chinese Language. The history of China, from the semi-mythical Xia Dynasty to the most recent Qing, has always been of interest to me. During my time at UMASS, I developed a deep interest in the Yuan, the short-lived Mongol Dynasty in China. While no course focusing on the Yuan was offered, I was able to find traces of the Mongols in various courses spanning multiple departments. At Columbia-LSE, I hope to continue my search for a more complete history of the Mongols and their legacy in China.

My interest in Chinese history and culture extends beyond the academic environment. I spent the summers of 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 working as a teacher at the Winchester School of Chinese Culture, where children of immigrant or biracial families come to learn Chinese language and culture.
