Rachel is the Campaign Leader on the Land and Environmental Defenders at Global Witness which investigates and advocates for the rights and protection of land and environmental activists worldwide. She has led investigative projects with a focus on Asia, that expose harms caused by governments and businesses linked to the exploitation of land and natural resources. The Defenders campaign records and publishes globally recognised data on reprisals. Rachel joined the board for Peace Brigades International UK in 2023 where she advises on governance issues. PBI UK is a leading NGO working to protect human rights and environmental defenders at risk.

Rachel obtained a Dual MA/MSc in International and World History from Columbia University and the London School of Economics in 2016 and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship. Her research interests were interdisciplinary and focused on the exploration of 'place' as part of the historical process, especially its relationship to the formation of identity. She obtained a BA in History from King's College London. Prior to her study of History, she trained in Fine Art at Central Saint Martin's, University of the Arts London.
