Rachel obtained a BA in History from King's College London, graduating with a First class honours and was awarded the Associateship of King's College London, the university's original qualification. She joined Columbia University as a Fulbright Scholar during the Dual MA/MSc in International and World History.
Her research interests are interdisciplinary and she is currently focused on the exploration of 'place' as part of the historical process, especially its relationship to the formation of identity. She seeks to explore more of the world's history, in particular the regions of South Asia and West Africa. She is also interested in the historical and cultural role of Islam across the globe, an interest that derives from her love of art and architecture. Prior to her study of History, she trained in Fine Art at Central Saint Martin's.
