Dissertation

Rachael graduated Cum Laude from Cornell University in 2014 with a BA in history and political science. A New England native, she wrote her honors thesis on early American politics and the implications of the election of 1800 for later constitutional development. As an undergraduate, she was awarded a junior fellowship at the Center for Khmer Studies in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where she spent a summer studying Khmer, as well as modern Cambodian culture and politics. She also works as researcher for the New York Historical Society, where she transcribes and annotates the private letter-book of Gouverneur Morris.

Rachael’s research interests include Middle Eastern and South Asian political history, with particular emphasis on the consequences and legacies of European imperialism. She hopes to incorporate further study of Arabic and French into her scholarly work.
