Ole Jakob Skåtun

Dissertation

Ole Jakob Skåtun graduated from the University of Bergen, Norway in 2011, double-majoring in Economics and Russian language. Since then, he has spent most of his time working as a freelance journalist from Korea, Russia and Norway, for a number of Norwegian as well as international publications. He has also held internships at Norwegian diplomatic and trade missions in Moscow, Russia, and done volunteer work with North Korean refugees in Seoul, South Korea.

Ole Jakob's academic and professional interests include, but are in no way limited to, Russian and North East Asian history, security and geopolitics along Russian peripheries, transnationalism and regionalism in Eurasia, and Russia's Far East. During his time at Columbia and LSE, complemented this by gaining further insight into Chinese history, in particular Chinese-Russian/Chinese-Soviet relations, and China in Eurasia.
