Nicholas Chik

Research Interest

Nicholas Chik graduated from UC Berkeley in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, specializing in African American history during the 19th and 20th centuries. His academic focus included a concentration on African American history during those periods. Notable among his recent publications are "Disparities in the Medal of Honor: Why African American Soldiers' Awards Were Delayed, and Japanese American Awards Were Immediate" and "Nativism and the Civil War: The Impact of the Emancipation of Slaves on American Immigration."

In addition to his research work, Nicholas received the Regent and Chancellor's Scholarship for the years 2021-2023. He served as the Social Consciousness Chair in the Black Sociological Alliance and published articles delving into Critical Race Theory and the issue of book bans in America. His future plans involve pursuing further education in a graduate program and continuing his study of African American history.
