Jonathan's thesis research is on the development of high-speed rail in the United States and France in the 1970s. His main areas of interest are the development of infrastructure, urban history, and Cold War history. He completed his Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, majoring in International Relations, Urban Studies, and History. He has worked as an assistant to the Ontario Minister of Northern Development and Mines and the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, as well as in a research position at the German Bundestag. He also worked on the start-up of a venture capital fund focussing on Canadian aboriginal-owned businesses. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Urban Planning at Columbia.
