Dissertation

A technologist and entrepreneur in his former life, Jason Dibble entered the Columbia-LSE dual-degree program as a born-again historian.  After receiving his B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin (1999), Jason Dibble moved to New York City to join a technology startup in the financial services sector as a programmer.  He was head of product development and a principal in the company at the time of its sale to FactSet Research Systems Inc. in 2008.  There he served in a variety of roles including head of private equity product development.  He is the co-founder of a news startup in the trading space and works with several other nascent businesses as an investor/advisor.

As a technologist with a passion for history, Jason is keenly interested in the intersection of those two fields, and in particular in exploring the impacts of emerging technologies in WWII-era Europe and throughout modern history as context for the political, economic, cultural and social implications of the proliferation of technology in today's world.

His long-range interests include writing, teaching and exploring the ways in which the application of digital technologies and empirical data analysis can make history more engaging in the classroom, through interactive museum exhibits, and via the internet.  He enjoys agonizing over the answers to silly trivia questions and recently resolved to quit the Oxford comma -- for good this time.
