Jared Flanery graduated summa cum laude with honors B.A.s in History, Political Science and Spanish from the University of Kentucky in 2014.

As an undergraduate he traveled to Valparaíso, Chile and Beijing for two summers of immersive language study. He also wrote honors theses on the role of rural communities during the Chinese Civil War, transnational "eco-city" development projects situated in China, and U.S. involvement in the Chilean coup d'état of 1973.

Jared's research interests include the political history of international organizations, anti-imperialist and non-aligned movements throughout the Cold War, and diplomatic and covert histories. In his free time he participates in labor, social and environmental justice, and global solidarity campaigns.
