I am from Germany and also did my undergraduate studies there. At the University of Freiburg I studied Modern History as a major and Political Science as a minor and received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2022. At the same time I pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, which I received in March 2024. During these studies, I also experienced a wide range of student work and internships, from academia and Public Affairs to a psychiatric hospital. Now, I am glad to be "back“ studying International History and hope to add a lot to the skillset developed during my undergraduate studies.
My main research interest is the relation between sports and politics in history, for example the instrumentalization of major sport events like the Olympics and the Football World Cup by governments. As a consequence of that, I am furthermore academically interested in extremist governments and dictatorships in history. While I am geographically also eager to learn more about Western European history, I have developed a special curiosity for Latin American history and hope to dive more into this topic during my studies at Columbia. My main time of interest for my research has been the 20th century so far.
In my free time, I love to do sports, especially cycling and football. I also play the guitar as a Singer-Songwriter. But my biggest passion is probably traveling, be it to other continents or places nearby.
