Hanne Christiansen moved from Norway to London in 2008, where she got a BA in Journalism and Contemporary History from Queen Mary University and City University of London. Her History Research Dissertation compared the nature of the 1970s women's movements in Norway and Britain, and subsequent levels of gender equality in each country.

Since graduating in 2011, she has worked as a journalist and broadcaster for the BBC, Olympic Broadcasting Services, Dazed & Confused and Vice. She has also worked with sustainability and corporate responsibility issues in organizations such as the UN Global Compact. Today she is a reporter for the Norwegian newspaper Aftenposten.

Her research interests include gender, equality and the history of economic globalisation. Her MA/MSc dissertation examined the standardisation of national accounting systems in the post-war era, and its impact on global conceptions of value, progress and prosperity.
