Hanbyeol is an accomplished historian with expertise in diplomatic and economic history, specializing in East Asia. He earned his academic qualifications from Columbia University and the London School of Economics, delving into the shifting dynamics of relationships between South Korea, North Korea, Taiwan, and China during the late 20th century. During his studies, Hanbyeol received multiple awards and scholarships, such as the Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship and the Santander Scholarship. His research findings have been presented at several conferences, including the NATSA Annual Conference and the GSAS Master’s SynThesis Competition.

Following the completion of his master’s program, Hanbyeol now works as an equity analyst at Samsung Securities, skillfully blending his research expertise with financial acumen and a global perspective. His responsibilities encompass research, sales, and trading, positioning him at the forefront of global financial markets.

Before his academic pursuits, Hanbyeol served as an information and education officer in the Republic of Korea Army and acted as a foreign press coordinator at the Busan International Film Festival. Beyond his academic and professional commitments, he is an avid cinephile, a die-hard baseball fan, and a fervent globe-trotter.
