Elizabeth Johnson

Research Interest

Elizabeth Johnson graduated from The George Washington University in 2023, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science. Elizabeth’s primary area of academic interest is World War II, with a specific focus on the experience of minorities in the Allied forces, post-conflict memorialization, and the continued role of the conflict in developing identity and policy across the globe.

During her undergraduate studies, Elizabeth interned with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Office of the Historian of the U.S. House of Representatives. In Spring 2022, she was selected to participate in a staff ride of the Normandy Campaign in England and France as a member of the Albert H. Small Normandy Institute. She also served as a mentor for the 2023 Normandy Institute program.

Beyond academics, Elizabeth is an internationally competitive figure skater. A member of Team USA during the 2022-23 season, she has earned national medals in three different disciplines: Ice Theatre, Showcase, and Synchronized Skating.
