Constanze completed her undergraduate degree in History at Freie Universität Berlin, with minors in Comparative Literature and Art History. Her studies led her to the University of California, Berkeley, where she spent an exchange semester. She is interested in the nineteenth century, the intersections of history and literature, as well as Women’s and Jewish history. Her undergraduate thesis examined the reception of Émile Zola’s “J’Accuse…!” in two German newspapers.
During her studies, she interned and worked at several newspapers, a radio station, and a historical research institute, and developed a strong interest in how history and culture can be communicated in a clear and well-informed way.
She thrives in international environments and, at just 14, left her hometown in southern Germany for an exchange year in Kentucky, where she stayed with a host family and attended high school. After completing high school in Germany, she moved to Paris for a year, taking language classes while working as an au pair for a French family. She is now very excited to continue this international journey through the Double Degree at Columbia and LSE!
In her free time, she enjoys reading, visiting museums, drawing, traveling, going on all kinds of side quests, and listening extensively to Taylor Swift.
