Cole Manley, PhD candidate in History at UC Davis, studies the urban, social, and political history of California and the American West. He is particularly interested in the spatial, racial, and urban politics of San Francisco and Oakland from the 1860s through World War II, with emphasis on developments in transit, real estate, mobility, and city planning.
He completed the dual-degree program in 2020, focusing on the Montgomery Bus Boycott and its transnational influences, which he was fortunate enough to turn into a book, available at the University of Georgia press, The Unlikely World of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
He is from San Francisco, originally, and lives in Sacramento, CA.
