Cohava Rubenstein Sturgess

Research Interest

Cohava graduated with a High Distinction from a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) majoring in history from the University of Melbourne in Australia. She is interested in the intersections of feminist, transnational and Jewish history as well as the legal structures, nationally and internationally, governing our world. Cohava has volunteered as an active participant in many organisations, including occupying the role of Volunteer Coordinator for an Independent political campaign in the 2022 Australian Federal election, directing a Jewish Youth Movement and leading holiday programs for First Nations Australians through the Jewish organisation ‘Stand Up - Jewish Commitment to a Better world’. She has worked in Jewish education and undertaken legal and historical research for various entities. 

Cohava is passionate about the role history plays in shaping our current world and creating new visions for its future particularly its role in creating more peaceful societies.

At Columbia University and LSE, Cohava intends to research the International feminist and peace movement during the interwar period, concentrating specifically on the Jewish women involved in the various international feminist organisations and their negotiations of their Jewish, feminist and national identities. Cohava is being supported by a Rotary Global Grant Scholarship.
