Citabria Stevens

Dissertation

Citabria received her bachelor’s of science in communications and journalism from New York University. Prior to entering the dual degree program, she was an associate producer at CNN in New York and spent a year in South Africa as director of communications for Thanda After-School, a non-profit that partners with rural communities to foster sustainable development. While at Columbia and LSE, Citabria wrote her dissertation on the U.S. media’s coverage of Guatemala’s 1954 C.I.A.-instigated coup, exploring how concurrent cultural narratives have the power to cloud the portrayal of actual events. Following graduation, she worked at a geopolitical consulting firm as managing editor of its online publications. Citabria is currently the managing editor of ArcNews magazine at Esri, the global leader in geographic information systems (GIS) technology and location intelligence.
