Originally from Germany, Alexandra graduated from University College Utrecht in the Netherlands with a BA magna cum laude in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a focus on history, Latin and journalism. In her bachelor’s thesis she examined the role of the United States in post-war Germany’s political, cultural and economic reconstruction between 1945 and 1955.
During her undergraduate studies, Alexandra attended the Pembroke-King's Programme 2012 at the University of Cambridge, where she spent the summer studying arts journalism, screen adaptation, creativity and business innovation. She also had the opportunity to study abroad for one semester at the University of California, San Diego.
After graduating in 2014, she spent one year working in communications and television in Ireland and Germany. Alexandra's current research interests include 20th-century international history, U.S.-German relations, propaganda, cultural diplomacy, nationalism and the interaction between history, culture and media, especially with regard to the media's effect on cultural memory and historical understandings.
