Research Interest

Originally from Germany, I studied at Cambridge University in the UK, completing a BA in History and Politics and a Master of Philosophy in Modern European History. My modules included intellectual history, US foreign policy and post-war European history. In courses on the 1848 revolutions and 1968 I grew fascinated by the ability of non-state actors to galvanize politics across national borders and thereby influence the conduct of diplomacy between states. My Master’s thesis assessed then Mayor of West Berlin Willy Brandt’s impact on Western Allies’ strategic defense priorities and diplomacy during the Second Berlin Crisis.

After graduating in 2021, I interned with UNESCO’s foresight department in Paris after which I moved to Berlin and began working in strategy consulting. I have mostly worked on corporate sustainability, which has fuelled my interest in the emergence of the environmental movement as a politically salient force. At Columbia and LSE, I look forward to deepening my foundation in environmental history among other topics and applying a variety of research methods.
