Katharine Ione Olson Taylor

Research Interest

Katharine graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018 with degrees in History Honors, Plan II Honors, and Arabic. Her undergraduate thesis, "Revolutionary Fervor: This History and Legacy of Communism in Abd al-Karim Qasim's Iraq, 1958-1963," overseen by Dr. Wm Roger Louis, won the Claudio Segre Honors Thesis Prize for Excellence in the Study of History. While at UT, Katharine was a Normandy Scholar, a Churchill Scholar, and President of the Plan II Honors Association. 

Katharine's research focuses on decolonization and modern revolutionary movements in the Middle East. She is keen to continue her research at Columbia and the LSE. In her free time she is an avid runner, skier, and cyclist.
