Research Interest

Originally from the Midwest, I graduated from Northern Michigan University in 2022 with a major in History and a minor in Art and Design. During my time as an undergraduate, I constantly found myself drawn to questions of agency, culture, and ideology, as well as the relationship between social movements and the development of historical consciousness. I also have an interest in critical pedagogy, informed by my experience as a teaching assistant, which underlies the rest of my studies.

After graduating, I spent time at Antioch College where I conducted independent research on student activism and experimental education while getting first hand experience in archival work.

At Columbia and LSE, I intend to continue my studies in intellectual and cultural history, focusing on the mid-twentieth century U.S. student movement and youth counterculture in a comparative global context, and orienting my work within the dynamic space between actions and ideas.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I enjoy reading, traveling, block printing and collaging, practicing street photography, and gardening.
