Research Interest

Originally from the United Kingdom, I earned my BA in History at King’s College London. My undergraduate thesis, titled ‘The Construction of the Palestine Human Rights Problem: A Critical Investigation into the Development and Dissemination of Human Rights Discourse Among Palestinians and at the UN, 1947-1970’, weaves together my interests in the history of human rights and international law, nations and the construction of national identities, Palestine/Israel and the Cold War.

After graduating, I left the UK to pursue intensive Arabic language classes in Cairo, Egypt, before arriving in Palestine to work simultaneously at a Palestinian human rights NGO, working in collaboration with the UN to identify communities in need across the Bethlehem and Hebron governates in the West Bank and deliver whatever resources they required, and as a research assistant for a PhD candidate researching the Israeli surveillance sector.

At Columbia University and the London School of Economics & Political Science, I am looking forward to deepening my understanding of the relationships between settler/colonialism, race, and the nation, as well as the role of international organisations engaging with these themes throughout the twentieth-century.
